Spring-Cleaning For A Great Cause
We want to help you with your spring-cleaning, and at the same time help
a wonderful cause. That’s right, it’s time for our annual luggage drive. All during the month of April,
Changes In Latitude will be collecting any used luggage that you no longer need or want. We will donate these
items to the Boulder County Safehouse. The mission of the
Boulder County Safehouse is to provide safe shelter, support and advocacy for battered women and their children and
work to end domestic violence through education and social change. In turn, Changes In Latitude will give you a
10% discount on any new luggage purchased along with your luggage
trade-in/donation! (Luggage donations are also tax deductible.)
Temporary Revised Travel Policies On United Airlines
Airlines continue to provide safe and reliable worldwide air transportation to
travelers. United Airlines has recently announced that they have temporarily revised some of their travel policies
to provide better service to their customers, should they find that their travel plans need to be adjusted.
- If you have tickets issued on or before March 31, 2003, with travel dates on or before May 18, 2003, you
may postpone your travel so that it is completed by December 31, 2003 without the customary penalty.
- If you decide to reschedule, the full value of your unused ticket will be applied toward the purchase of a new ticket
with no re-ticketing fee. If the new fare is higher, you must pay the difference. If the new fare is lower,
and the original ticket was non-refundable, United will issue you a travel voucher for the difference.
- To be eligible for this offer, originating travel must fall within the qualifying travel dates above, and you must
contact United Airlines or your travel agent to reschedule prior to your originally scheduled departure or before April
19, 2003, whichever comes first.
- Only one change per ticket will be allowed under this waiver.
This was an announcement by United Airlines, so if you have travel plans with another airline, you may want to check with
your specific airline to see if they are offering any revised policies of their own.

Product Spotlight
This month, we focus on one of the most useful travel products:
packing cubes. Packing cubes are sturdy nylon cubes that
have a zippered, see-through mesh lid. They come in four different sizes and six great colors. Packing cubes
provide many advantages for the traveler.
Along with packing folders, spill-proof sacs and compressor sacs, packing cubes are one of the easiest and best methods
for organizing your packing inside any kind of luggage, from suitcases to backpacks. You can pack different items
in appropriately sized packing cubes: socks, hosiery and jewelry in a quarter cube, tee shirts and underwear in a
half cube, etc. Or you can organize by color for easy identification: light, warm weather items in the citrus
orange cube, heavier cold weather items in the green apple cube and rainy weather items in the neptune blue cube.
Packing by color is also handy if you are packing for the whole family, each person can use a different color cube.
The newest advantage of packing cubes is that they are helpful during airport security screenings. If your luggage
is selected for search, security inspectors can “see, crush and feel” the packing cube for security purposes without
having to actually open it and handle all of your personal contents.
Suggested Reading “Tracks” by Robyn Davidson, 1980, published by Vintage Books. In April of 1977, at 27, this young
Australian woman arrived in Alice Springs with only six dollars. She left with her dog and four camels to start
her 1,700-mile, solo trek across the rugged outback of her native country to the Indian Ocean. Behind this
brilliantly written and frequently hilarious story are a young woman’s complicated emotions about the end of adventure
and the arrival of fame. She shows the reader that anyone can experience his or her own adventure.
