  • FAQs
  • Do you sponsor visas for international applicants?

Unfortunately we are not currently able to sponsor visas in either our UK or US offices. Prospective applicants must have the right to work in their respective office on the date that they are due to start.

  • Can I apply to multiple offices?

Unfortunately, we don’t allow applicants to apply for multiple offices, given that our office locations offer very different living experiences. We encourage applicants to think about which office would suit them best and make a conscious decision to apply to that one only, rather than a blanket application to CIL in general.

  • I’ve applied to CIL in the past. Can I re-apply for the same role?

There are instances where a candidate who has been unsuccessful in later interview rounds have come back and been offered a role. However, anyone wanting to re-apply would need to wait until the next recruitment cycle starts.

  • When do you start to review applications?

All applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so we advise submitting your application in advance of any application deadline date.

  • Are there opportunities to intern with CIL?

We run a summer internship for penultimate year upReach Associates in the UK; the process for this is managed by upReach. We also offer internships for junior year students in the US.

  • Does CIL offer shorter work experience opportunities outside of the summer internship?

Unfortunately, we do not provide wider work experience opportunities outside of the areas mentioned above.

  • I'm a student looking for an industrial placement. Does CIL support this?

Yes, we offer industrial placements in our South West office in the UK for students from certain universities – we currently work with Bath, Exeter and Cardiff Universities.

  • When do graduate applications open and how large is each intake?

We typically recruit through the Autumn and New Year, although this will vary from year-to-year and between intakes. We usually recruit up to 20 Analysts to start in the Autumn across all three offices, and up to 10 Analysts in the Spring.

  • I have a PhD or an MBA – are there any specific entry points for people who have those qualifications?

We have no specific entry point aimed at either PhD or MBA candidates, but would encourage anyone with these qualifications to review our job role descriptions and apply for the level at which they feel best suited.

  • I've been working for a few years, but I have never worked in consulting before. Is there any scope to join CIL as an experienced hire?

Most of our experienced hires have had some previous experience within strategy consulting. We do however accept applications for analyst roles from people who have no directly relevant consulting experience.
