FAQs

Can I apply to multiple offices?
Unfortunately, we don’t allow applicants to apply for multiple offices, given that our office locations offer very different living experiences. We encourage applicants to think about which office would suit them best and make a conscious decision to apply to that one only, rather than a blanket application to CIL in general.
-
I’ve applied to CIL in the past. Can I re-apply for the same role?
There are instances where a candidate who has been unsuccessful in later interview rounds have come back and been offered a role. However, anyone wanting to re-apply would need to wait at least 12 months before re-applying.
-
When do you start to review applications?
All applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so we advise submitting your application in advance of any application deadline date.
-
Are there opportunities to intern with CIL?
In the UK, we run a summer internship for penultimate upReach Associates; the process for this is managed by upReach.
In the US, we run summer internships for graduate students and MBA students. These are posted on our open roles page.
In Germany, we run 4-12 month internships for final year students and those who have completed their studies. These are posted on our open roles page.
-
Does CIL offer shorter work experience opportunities outside of the summer internship?
Unfortunately, we do not provide wider work experience opportunities outside of the areas mentioned above.
-
I'm a student looking for an industrial placement. Does CIL support this?
Yes, we offer placements in our Frome and London offices in the UK for students from the University of Bath.
We also offer placements year-round in our Munich office – see our open roles page for more details.
-
I have a PhD or an MBA – are there any specific entry points for people who have those qualifications?
We have no specific entry point aimed at either PhD or MBA candidates, but would encourage anyone with these qualifications to review our job role descriptions and apply for the level at which they feel best suited.

I've been working for a few years, but I have never worked in consulting before. Is there any scope to join CIL as an experienced hire?
Most of our experienced hires have had some previous experience within strategy consulting. We do however accept applications for Analyst roles from people who have no directly relevant consulting experience.
