At CIL, we are passionate about building a successful team of people from a wide range of personal and professional backgrounds. Helping our clients grow requires creative thinking and fresh perspectives. To deliver this we need a diverse workforce of exceptional individuals.

Led by our diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) team, CIL aims to foster an inclusive work environment where everyone has the opportunity and support needed to develop and progress in their careers. Our activities in this area are constantly evolving and cover training, networking and outreach to underrepresented groups.

A focus on DEI not only makes us a more interesting and enjoyable company to work for, it also makes us a more effective partner for our clients as they look to drive growth and build value in a complex and diverse world.”

Tabitha Elwes, DEI Lead

CIL commits to creating and maintaining a culture where every employee feels included and respected; to counter discrimination through our recruitment and training processes and our interaction with other stakeholders; and to celebrate the diverse contributions of all our employees and stakeholders.

DEI insight days
We host insight days for students that are traditionally underrepresented in consulting (e.g. women, those from disadvantaged backgrounds). These offer the chance to hear from individuals at all levels of the company and provide opportunities for informal question and answer sessions.

CIL is proud to support upReach, a charity focused on boosting social mobility. In our role as employer partner we provide insight days, mentorship, work experience, internships and job opportunities to talented and highly driven university students from less advantaged backgrounds.

Measurement and progress tracking
We are committed to our employees being seen and heard and having opportunities to feed into company culture. Partnering with Clusivity, we holistically measure CIL’s performance on DEI considerations on a yearly basis. This encompasses collecting people’s experiences working at the company and views on our culture and progression opportunities, as well as tracking representation. Responses are then analyzed and reported back to the company transparently, and actions are defined and followed through on to drive meaningful progress.

Inclusive support
We continually review and refresh our HR policies to ensure that they reflect and support the needs of our team. Inclusive and flexible parental leave policies, flexible bank holidays, work abroad policies and many others are informed by our colleagues to make CIL a great place to work for people of all backgrounds and circumstances.

Engaging our community
We hold events across our offices to engage our wider ecosystem and expand our impact beyond our own people. Our annual Women in M&A dinners provide a platform for women across our industry to build relationships and support each other throughout their careers.
