Three things on wealth management in the UK
In this short video, Senior Partner, Alex Marshall, shares three things to understand about wealth management in the UK and how the sector is evolving.
After several years of strong investor interest and supportive market conditions, many wealth managers are now operating in a more challenging environment. Organic growth is slowing, investment performance is under closer scrutiny, and regulatory attention across the sector is increasing.
Technology continues to play a growing role. Wealthtech is enabling advisers to improve service quality and efficiency, but adoption remains uneven. Firms that invest in technology and rethink their operating models are creating greater flexibility and room to maneuver.
Investment strategy is also under the spotlight. Vertically integrated discretionary fund management can offer advantages, but market conditions matter. Evidence suggests passive strategies perform well in stable markets, while active approaches tend to come to the fore during periods of volatility. Optionality is becoming increasingly valuable.
Regulatory scrutiny is also highlighting the importance of robust data infrastructure, particularly for consolidators needing to evidence historic pricing and service levels across acquired businesses.
